Frequently asked questions

I have been referred to a different clinic; can I still come to you?

Yes you can, as long as the request form has been signed and dated within 12 months, and the referral is for a Cone Beam CT, OPG or Lat Ceph/PA ceph.

How are you different to other larger medical imaging clinics?

Other medical imaging clinics may provide a wider range of examinations such as general x-rays for the whole body, Medical CT scanning, Ultrasound, MRI. We are considered a general radiology clinic with a focus on OPG and Cone Beam CT examinations.

I am pregnant. Can I still have my x-ray procedure?

If you are pregnant, we recommend that you consult with your dentist or GP whether you should still have the examination. If the x-ray procedure is deemed necessary then we will still carry out the x-ray request. Lead shielding is available on site to help reduce dose to unnecessary body parts.

Do I need a referral form?

Yes. We can only perform an x-ray examination on you if you present with a valid request form that indicates which examination has been requested, signed and dated by a dentist, dental specialist or health professional such as a GP.

Do you have wheelchair access?

We are able to see patients who come in wheelchairs, however it depends on the size/type of the wheelchair and also the ability of the patient to sit up, or slightly weight bear. Please call for more info.

How long are the examinations?

We recommend you allocate 15-20 minutes for general examinations and 20-30 minutes for Cone Beam CT examination. The scans themselves only last between 10 and 15 seconds. If you are short for time, recommend to call to make a booking or call ahead even if you want to come on a walk in basis just to check how the appointments are going

Why is my dentist asking me to have a Cone Beam CT scan?

A Cone Beam CT (CBCT) scan provides high resolution imagery in 3D. In other words, it helps provide more information to the dentist to better help them in deciding the best treatment plan for your circumstance. Most dentists will only refer if they think they need more information before they can properly decide how to proceed with your dental treatment.

Do I need an appointment?

While we accept walk-ins for general examinations such as OPG and Lateral cephs, you are more than welcome to call and secure an appointment with us if you are running on a tight schedule. The waiting time for these examinations are generally within 10-15 minutes to be seen. And the actual examination will take you just 5 minutes. If you require a Cone Beam CT scan, we recommend that you call to make an appointment, however we do see patients on a walk in basis as well.
